The Metro Transit Police Department was called shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 to the station to investigate reports of a person who was struck by a train and reportedly dragged.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, police said that the man was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
It is unclear why the man - who has not been identified - was on the tracks.
The fatal train strike led to a temporary suspension on the Orange Line between Vienna and West Falls Church on Wednesday. The line was reopened at approximately 3 p.m.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
